One of the typical effects of a lay-off or downsizing is taking it all personally. Now is the time for reflection on those things you have always wanted to do, like the repairs on the house, loosing weight, taking a yoga class. While it is easy to obsess over the event, your best defense is to keep positively charged. Refrain from the victim view and ramp up your social life. Chances are the next job you get will be through someone you know! (Entered February 18, 2009 by wendiroo)

Returning Soldiers: Naturally Equipped to Join The recent radio buzz with Gene and Wendy is all about the returning soldiers and their transition back into the workforce. While much of the world does not recognize their plight, the transferrance of knowledge and skill from an environment of conflict is more challenging than the changing of traditional jobs. The good news is one of the toughest skills for the rest of us is to connect with the larger community and to rely on this community to assist us through the rough spots.
A stint in the military teaches the skill of being a part of, joining and relying on the team and further endorses this requirement in action. Building this skill permits our returning soldiers access and interest in joining an instant new community of veterans.
Unlike no other time in history and contrary to the lack of support in Viet Nam era, there are more resources than one could count for our returning military. As a result, the coachcompass.com website has connected to the Riley site. Margaret Riley, well-known for her thorough research of sites on the web has created a wonderful resource for our valued soldiers replete with everything a military ex could request. Visit the coachcompass.com interface and click on the Returning Soldiers resource on the bottom left to access this valuable site. (Entered November 02, 2005 by SuccessXpres)
